Air Conditioning System Service If your car’s air conditioning isn’t working up to par, don’t sweat it. In most cases, Precision Tune Auto Care can solve the problem.
When should my air conditioning system be checked?
- Each year prior to the warm weather months.
- Any time it isn’t working to your satisfaction you should bring it in for an A/C Check.
What is included in the Air Conditioning Service?
System performance check
- System inspection
- Are there environmental concerns with Air Conditioning?
Because the refrigerant used in most air conditioning systems is considered harmful to the environment, it is critical that it not be allowed to escape during servicing. We begin each air conditioning service with a leak detection test. Our technicians use a sealed, environmentally friendly process, which captures the refrigerant, cleans it, replenishes it and returns it to your car’s air conditioning system good as new.
What if my car still uses Freon?
Air conditioning systems in cars built before 1995 use the refrigerant R-12 or (CFC-12) also referred to as Freon. The EPA determined that Freon was destroying the ozone layer and in 1995 all production ceased. Freon is now extremely expensive and difficult to find. PTAC offers a retrofit service that enables your A/C system to use the inexpensive R-134a refrigerant. The retrofit pays for itself in cost savings on the refrigerant.
What does the retrofit service include?
- All retrofits are evaluated on a case-by-case basis. Different vehicles may require slightly different procedures.
We evacuate all R-12 and most of the existing refrigerant oils from the air conditioning system. In some instances, certain parts such as the O-rings, hoses, accumulator or receiver/dryer, must be replaced to assure compatibility with R-134a.
- In addition, special fittings and labels must be placed on the vehicle to properly identify that it has been retrofitted. This is required by law and is a mandatory part of any air-conditioning retrofit procedure.
- A retrofit does not fix a broken air conditioning system. If your A/C is not cooling properly then a diagnosis must be performed to determine the problem. Only after a complete diagnosis, can a decision be made whether to repair the A/C system and then plan a retrofit. If a retrofit is desired, then it is important to know this when planning the repair.
As with all services you receive at Precision Tune Auto Care, the parts we install will meet or exceed manufacturer’s standards, and all used parts will be returned to you upon request.
This service, like all services performed at Precision Tune Auto Care, is advised based on manufacturer’s recommendations, or as needed as determined by our inspection and based on industry standards.
Fluid Maintenance Services The services that are most often neglected by drivers are also some of the easiest to take care of. The expensive, sophisticated engines in today’s cars can be utterly destroyed by improper care of fluids. Fluid maintenance services are a Precision Tune Auto Care specialty.
Oil Changes
Expert technicians agree that the oil change is the single most important maintenance service your car can receive.
When does my car’s oil need changed?
Most manufacturers recommend an oil change every three months or 3,000 miles under severe driving conditions - city driving, stop and go traffic, short trips, dusty conditions - just about every case except steady highway driving.
What does an Express Hassle-Free Oil Change include?
- up to 5 quarts of major brand oil
- new oil filter
- lubrication of the various fittings on your car’s undercarriage when applicable
- thorough maintenance inspection of all safety and performance related systems
Please note that individual PTAC centers may offer various oil change options. Be sure to ask the center manager about the different options available.
Transmission and Differential Fluids
In addition to the oil change, transmission and differential fluids must be changed to assure proper operation. On four-wheel drive vehicles, the transfer case also requires regular fluid maintenance. Neglecting transmission and differential fluid service could result in extensive repairs, or the replacement of some of your vehicles most expensive components.
Precision Tune Auto Care generally recommends these services every 30,000 miles. For your vehicle, refer to the manufacturer’s maintenance recommendation.
Oil, Transmission and Differential Fluid changes are performed based on manufacturer’s recommendations, or as needed as determined by our inspection and based on industry standards.
Scheduled Maintenance Services Recent advances in automotive technology have resulted in cars that are better built, longer lasting, and more service free than ever before. To assure peak performance and to assure that you get years of trouble-free driving, your manufacturer has developed a recommended maintenance schedule for your car.
When should my car have Scheduled Maintenance?
There are two types of maintenance services - minor and major. Minor services are generally performed at 7,500, 15,000, 45, 000 and 75,000 miles while major services are performed at 30,000, 60,000 and 90,000 mile intervals.
What is the "minor service"?
While it varies by make and model, minor services generally include:
- changing the oil and oil filter.
- lubricating the chassis if it has not been factory sealed.
- an inspection of all fluids, filters, belts, hoses, brakes and emissions.
- Some manufacturers recommend tire rotation as a part of a minor service.
What is the "major service"?
While it varies by make and model, major services generally include:
- all minor services.
- the replacement of various filters, fluids, and spark plugs.
- timing belt replacement at the manufacturer’s recommended replacement interval.
- other specified major services relate to the fuel delivery, emissions, and ignition systems.
Will your service validate my warranty?
Scheduled maintenance service must be completed in order to keep your warranty valid, and Precision Tune Auto Care is authorized to perform most of the services recommended by each manufacturer.
As with all services you receive at Precision Tune Auto Care, the parts we install will meet or exceed manufacturer’s standards, and all used parts will be returned to you upon request.
Precision Tune Auto Care strongly advises that you have maintenance services performed based on the manufacturer’s suggested schedule. Additional services may also be recommended based on our inspection of the vehicle and industry standards.
Air Induction System Service There’s a new way you can restore your car to peak performance in no time. At Precision Tune Auto Care, we perform a unique service called air induction cleaning. Air induction service is advised on a regular maintenance basis, but is often especially effective with cars operating under severe driving conditions.
When should I consider an Air Induction Service?
When your car is not performing properly, is hesitating or is exhibiting signs of emissions problems bring it in so our experts can determine if an Air Induction Service will improve its performance.
What does Air Induction do for my car’s engine?
Heat causes build up of carbon and varnish in your car’s engine and the crusted deposits act as a sponge soaking up fuel and restricting air flow. The results are poor engine efficiency, high stress on critical engine components and higher levels of toxic emissions. We introduce a special cleaning agent into the intake manifold with the engine running. This agent dissolves the carbon deposits, which are then emitted out of the tail pipe.
- This often results in the kind of performance you had when your car was brand new.
- Fuel efficiency can be significantly boosted.
- Harmful pollutants are reduced.
- The overall life of your car’s engine may be prolonged.
This service, like all services performed at Precision Tune Auto Care, is advised based on manufacturer’s recommendations, or as needed as determined by our inspection and based on industry standards.
Cooling System Services The engines in many of the cars on the road today are smaller than they used to be, as well as being far more efficient. But they also produce a great deal of heat. The cooling system is responsible for maintaining the engine at an acceptable operating temperature.
When does the Cooling System need service?
The Cooling System should be checked yearly. Failure to maintain the cooling system can result in overheating, which can cause severe damage to the engine.
What is included in the Cooling System Service?
- The pressure conditions and coolant volume are checked.
- The radiator cap is checked to verify it functions and fits correctly.
- Radiator hoses are checked to verify they are not worn, cracked or disintegrating.
- Engine belts are checked.
Are there environmental concerns?
Precision Tune Auto Care services cooling systems in an environmentally safe way. We pump out the existing coolant, capture it in holding tanks, clean and filter it, and recycle it back into the radiator. The replaced coolant is just like new, filtered of impurities, and there are no toxic fluids to be disposed of in the environment. Experts agree that this method of servicing cooling systems is superior and more complete than the old-fashioned "flush and fill" method, which does not recycle the old coolant.
Cooling system service is advised based on manufacturer’s recommendations or as needed as determined by our inspection, and based on industry standards.
Fuel Injection System Service Not too long ago, most cars used a carburetor to deliver fuel into the engine. But today, almost every car uses fuel injection. Fuel injection cleaning is now a necessary maintenance service required on today’s cars and trucks.
When should I consider a Fuel Injection Service?
When your car is hesitating, having trouble starting, achieving poor gas mileage or operating sluggish with poor performance bring it in so our experts can determine if a Fuel Injection Service will improve its performance.
What does Fuel Injection Service do for my car?
The injectors - particularly the injector nozzles - exist in an environment where tremendous heat is generated. The burning of the fuel leaves hardened carbon deposits on piston valves and fuel injector nozzle heads that interferes with the spray pattern and flow of fuel. At Precision Tune Auto Care, we introduce a liquid cleaning agent into the injection nozzle. This dissolves the carbon deposits and restores proper fuel flow into the combustion chamber.
- After this service your car can achieve optimum gas mileage.
- There’s a reduction of toxic emissions.
- Your car should give you better response and performance.
- And your engine may last longer.
Fuel injection service, like all services performed at Precision Tune Auto Care, is advised based on manufacturer’s recommendations, or as needed as determined by our inspection and based on industry standards.
Tune-Up When your car is properly tuned, the ignition system, fuel system, emission system and the computer system are all working together. This results in peak combustion chamber efficiency, saving you money at the gas pump and making sure your car is emitting a minimum of pollutants.
How do I tell if my car needs a Tune-Up?
Check your owner's manual. Tune-up intervals are different for each car.
Many people assume a tune-up will solve a drivability problem. That's not always the case. Our experts perform a tune-up verification to confirm that your car will benefit from a tune-up. Your problem may be unrelated to a tune-up and may need an engine diagnosis.
What does a Precision Tune Auto Care Tune-Up include?
- A tune-up verification
- Replacement of spark plugs
- Emission levels analysis
- Timing/idle speed adjustment (if adjustable)
- A complete maintenance inspection
All of the parts we install are guaranteed to meet or exceed manufacturer standards, and if you wish, we'll return all of your old parts to you.
This service, like all services performed at Precision Tune Auto Care, is advised based on your manufacturer's recommendations, or as needed as determined by our inspection and based on industry standards. |
